I recently became an intern at the Whidbey Island Fine Art Studio (WIFAS) in Washington. This is a still life I painted during a workshop while helping the instructor David Gray. There was a plastic anatomical study skull in the back of my car and I thought it would be a fun Halloween theme.

Neakahnie Looking to Smuggler's Cove

I painted this plein air painting at an amazing spot near Manzanita in Oregon. Neakhanie mountain has sheer cliffs that plunge into the sea. I was blown away by the caves worn into the side of the rocks; a very impressive sight! This painting took two days to paint. The size is larger than I normally work with for plein air- approximately 18in x 24in, oil on Masonite.

Farm Road off the Nehalem River

I am teaching plein air workshops this summer; here's one I did last week with the group at a really cool little spot next to the Nehalem River in Oregon. It seemed like every way we looked there was an inspiring vista to paint from.

This was inspired by the waves in the ocean; with a sort of cosmic spin on it. I painted this after I painted my self portrait in 2010.
